Tein Lowering Springs SKC10-AUBOO
Does anyone have these (Tein SKC10-AUBOO) installed on their yaris??? Are these worth it?? and will I still be able to drive on 225/50/15 without any rub?? also does any one know what the width (15"x??") is for the 15" alloy rims (see photo)?? Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken those 15" OEM alloys are 15x5.5, ET45. Perhaps someone who has them off the car will confirm by looking on the back of the wheel for you.

try Pm'ing Marcus, he has those rims,but I think he has the TRD springs, which are not 1.9 inch drop!!

One set of wheels I have are 15x6.5 +35 Heliums with 195's stretched over them, and when I have the wheel turned and bottom out, they juuuuuuuust graze the plastic wheel well liner. Although the 225's are considerably wider, your offset should be almost a full inch more tucked into the car, so even though the 225 is just a shade wider than that inch, the 5.5 inch wide wheel will probably pinch it enough to fit. You'll also be over an inch higher in diameter, so that should close up the wheel-well gap over a half inch... if you used the Tein's that would make it flush when viewed from the side.
I would recommend getting a tire with a pretty stiff sidewall, to keep it from wanting to roll over on its side if you corner it hard. The only other way to counter that otherwise would be to crank up your tire pressure, which may not be all that comfortable on the road. Aside from that, you may actually be able to get all that rubber to fit... though I would wait and see what else other folks have to say. As for the Tein springs themselves; I had thought they where the stiffest of the lowering springs, and was expecting/hoping for a stiff ride. However, they ride really smooth, and with your stock strut/shocks, should give you a nice mellow ride. A warning about the bumpstop though: either don't cut it, cut it only a bit, or look into a stiffer and/or 2-stage mcu one. The reason being, that with springs alone, the valving is still soft, and you just essntially took away 2 inches of stroke from you travel.... meaning you'll definatly smack up on the bumpstop from time to time. The road quality where you live/drive, and your driving habits will dictate how often, hard or tolerable this is for you. Overall it will probably work and look sharp for you. Best of luck. |

I have some 205's on my stock rims I can try to bolt up and see how much remaining clearance there is and what they look like. The 225's will be about 3/4 inch wider, moving the outer sidewall 3/8 or so out. The back should be fine, it's the narrower front that will be a close call. Let me know if you need me to try that.

if those are the S.Tech springs, then no you won't have any rubbing problems with the OEM wheels, albeit, i have the steelies and not the alloys. i don't rub at all.
