Yaris GPS Navigation / Radio Upgrade
Hello everyone,
I'd like to upgrade my current factory radio with something like this... http://www.lightinthebox.com/7-inch-...5-_p88948.html Problem is it's made by some weird Chinese company called "yuetu". It has 4 stars, but I feel that's meaningless. People rate these things all the time. I just don't want to buy junk. I also don't want my radio to look like crap either. The Yaris' mounts are nonstandard to say the least. I haven't really seen a good kit for 3rd party radios. Also I noticed that you need the factory-like radio to set the clock. There'd be nothing worse than getting a 3rd party radio and have my clock off by 5 minutes an being unable to set it. Unless there's a work around? Anywho what do you guys think of this radio? Do you think it's worth it, or should I stay away from it? Personally I'd like something like this with a satellite radio built in. What do you guys use? Thanks in advance for your help! |

Those are some great pics!
I'd be willing to do that. But that doesn't answer the clock problem. Does anyone know? |

Which clock are you refering too ? The one on the dash ? By the gauge cluster ? where your mileage is displayed ?

Yes, that button is there, but I need to use that button in conjunction with the original stereo knobs to change the clock. Once the factory radio is out so is that function.

You have an integrated radio ? If so i think SQ comp has one so maybe he can explain further, but as far as mine goes, i just need that lil button, you hold it down a few seconds it blinks then you tap it till your hour is set, after that you leave it a few seconds then it goes to the minutes you tap it to set the minutes then you just let it set. A picture of your dash right now would help, right now i'm just guessing, and maybe our terminology got crossed somewhere in there.
Or maybe the steps you use now to set your clock could do the trick.

Wow, I thought I tried that last time I tried setting it. But yes it does indeed work without the need of the radio, as well. I guess I'm in good shape for purchasing a 3rd party radio now. Now my question is where do I get the adapter kit for my Yaris?

Best Buy has them, If not you can go directly to your toyota dealer for it, you will need a wire harness and if you had an integrated radio you will need a bezel.
Wire Harness - Best buy Bezel - Toyota dealer , Ebay, Or look around the forums, there's quite a few places. Oh and that link you posted above for the dvd player isn't for a sedan, that looks like it's for a Hatchback.

Yep I realize I can get the wire kit and mount pretty much anywhere.
The bezel has proven to be difficult. I called my local Toyota Dealer and they said they don't offer it and to call Best Buy. I looked everywhere online and this is all I could find. However this is the wrong unit for my car, the vents go inward on this and mine go outward where the clock/odo buttons are. I have a 2008 Yaris. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...d=390133140553 Maybe I'm searching for the wrong item or name. Is there a specific model number that I should be looking for? Thanks for the help so far, you've been great! :) |

Haha, did you want to come over and install it for me, too?
Since you like doing work and all ;) I found it, woot! 55405-52640 And I even found a site that sells it, too. http://www.toyotapartszone.com/2008/...artment~2.html I'm going to need to call them and make sure the color is right. I'm not really in the mood for doing a lousy paint job. Thanks again for helping! :) |

Eh if you order the wrong color we have a guy who sell's neffy Carbon fiber wrap, so we have you covered
http://shop.microimageonline.com/Nef...ap-Neffy-1.htm Dude your Toyota Dealer has to have it, take them a picture , or draw one for them, it's an OEM part, Now you have a part number, So now you can go and adjust yourself in front of them and say " I need this here part number " = )
