Yaris - 2008 model automatic - problem when I start car
Hi I recently bought an automatic car. As I start the car it's takes time to accelerate the car, it slows down before it accelerates. The Carus a 2008 model. I have been told by the mechanic that this is something inherent in the 2008 model.
Anyone has similar issues and is this normal? |

Assuming you are talking about the momentary lag between pressing on the gas and the engine responding to it, yes this is normal.
Throttle is what is known as drive-by-wire which is using an electronic signal to control the throttle. Much different than a throttle which is directly controlled by a cable between it and the gas pedal.

So is this normal for all automatic cars or just the Yaris 2008 model?

If throttle response lag is what you are experiencing, then it has nothing to do with being an automatic, nor specific to model year 2008. Toyota moved away from cable with the introduction of the Gen2 model year 2006.
