What do you guys think of these headunits!?
I was thinking about purchasing one these. They are on Ebay, there's a whole bunch of different models but they all pretty much look like these. I really like how its the whole piece so it would give it a clean stock look! I wanted to find out if anybody knows anything about these if they're any good? Thanks guys!

My main concern would be fitment...
How much does it cost?

They range between $350 to $500. From what it looks like it would perfect fitment and I contacted some of the sellers and they confirmed fitment being perfect... It's got good features too like Bluetooth, gps, iPod control from the headunit, plays DVDs, divx etc... USB, sd card....

You can always buy it and report back! Do they come with any guarantee or anything?

Yea you can return it within 14 days but you'd have to pay for shipping if sent back.

You'd get a clean, stock look but for that money, you're not going to get the sound quality or power you should get. Lots of attractive, reliable double din sound units out there including detachable face ones for security. What's the point of getting a stock head unit with a screen?

These are the same as the million other MadeInChina type head units.
we have a couple theards (including mine) on some of these already. Fitment shouldnt be your MAIN concern. double din is double din - and if they claim that they perfectly fit a Yaris and look like it (like the one the OP posted) - more than likely they will. the main thing to look at with these are - the amount of Memory/Ram installed in the unit the Screen's Resolution. The Unit's/GPS's Operating System (Preferably Windows CE 6.0 or later. Anything stating Windows CE 5.0 [which 90% of these cheap ones posess] stay away from. These are usually the lower quality builds. Also - CE 5.0 is rather old so you can also take into consideration the "newness" of the technology being used) And if possible - customer reviews / youtube videos / actual reliability of the unit. I havent seen too many units that are flush to look OEM that are under the 350 range. luckily the unit i bought was only 299 and works like a charm - but it doesnt look Factory/OEM without a few modifications. Memory should be atleast a Gig. Operating System - Windows CE 6 Screen Resolution - atleast 800x400 For a flush/OEM look - the measurements of the unit should be 200mm. |
