Meguiar Deep Crystals wash + Clay Bar + NXT 2.0 Wax = Slick
First time ever using a clay bar...o what i have missed in life. With my 3 week old yaris that has been sleeping in the garage it still got some crap on the surface. I took little less than 3 hours to do the wash, clay bar and wax. The clay bar took the longest (2 hr) as i took my time to get it super slick. I need to do some more wax layers, i skipped the polish stage as i dont really see the point with a new car, maybe im wrong?
And this is the crap the clay bar picked up from my dad's '98 4runner (just half of the HOOD!!!), which my Yaris kicked out of the garage..now it sleeps outside. 11 years of crap on the paint... i think ill do the polish thing for his car. Last edited by ezhacker1; 05-11-2009 at 02:49 AM. |

put the Cleaner Wax under the NXT? like cleaner wax on then put on the NXT?
all these Meguiar products are confusing in their differences, multiple waxes, washes. Now i wish i did the polish before the wax. |

do a coat of the cleaner wax.. buff it off, then put the nxt wax on & buff that off.. put a layer of the ultimate quick detailer in between waxes.. then another layer of the detailer after letting the nxt set for 12 hrs.. showroom gloss for sure!!!

Hi all -
I thought I'd post in the thread also, as I pretty much followed the same procedure - initial wash, clay bar, re-wash and wax. Meguiar's products used as well, the wax also NXT 2.0. Even though it's only a year old, I was struck by the glass-like smoothness of the finish - it's amazing the contrast when I run my finger along someone else's car!! Application and removal of the NXT wax was as close to effortless as one can get. I have to thank a number of members from the forum who made efforts to describe their own experiences and efforts - they certainly helped me! |

and me! These meguiars products can get confusing. I guess now I have to go back and get the NXT wax (I bought the cleaner wax instead of the NXT). Maybe I'll keep the cleaner wax and then will put NXT on top of it. That should work. |

Hello, sorry I never saw that you responded to my post. Yesterday I did the cleaner wax step, and added a little bit of NXT on the hood just to see if it makes a difference, and, you're right, it sure does!! Too bad I didn't have time to do that on the entire car, will complete the process next time. Don't you put any deep crystal polish in between the two layers of wax? Everybody is talking about the quickdetailer, must be good stuff. |

just want to say that 2 months after i detailed the outside, it is still beading water all around and feeling silky smooth, even after 2 washes (Meg. Deep Crystals Wash).
2 months ago: wash, claybar, 3 coats of NXT 2.0

Looking good, makes me want to go do mine. Actually, I think I will.. What kind of polish were you thinking about using?

nope... my thoughts on polish were that IF it was to be used, to use it before wax and clay as it has some exfoliating products that buff out damage....the only thing id think of putting ads a layer between the waxes would be a layer of ultimate quick detailer... and then one final coat after letting the nxt cure for 12 hrs...

OK, thanks. I was at the Meguiars website earlier, they sure have a lot of products don't they, but also a lot of information, you could spend hours!
The deep crystal polish is for dark color cars, according to their website. Not sure if Absolutely Red is considered a dark color, but I'm thinking they probably meant Navy blue, dark gray, black, even dark red. I left a post in YarisSedan's thread, will see what he says. I think I'm going to go with your advice. The quick detailer looks like a real good thing to have anyway, and Kragen is having a sale right now, so will pick it up tonight. Can't believe I'm getting all excited about washing my car! |
