Indian Head Bob - extreme
This kid has incredible neck mobility. I'm going to be working with Indians, maybe even doing some field trips to India, and figured I ought to know something about that head bob.
Found this..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cw88JamMxFw Take away his tan and turban and he'd be the spittin' image of a redneck I know hereabouts. Nice kid who lives in a trailer, raises his chickens, takes care of his wife (and vice versa) and is a decent human being). Gonna be fun to see his reaction to this one... Gene |

All Indians know how to do that. How do you think I win bar bets and get out of speeding tickets?

The more I look at this kid and listen to him the more he reminds of Gary. One is almost tempted to ask - was there a base population in the Caucasus mountains thousands of years ago? Some went south into the Indian Peninsula. Others went north into Europe. Time passed and there were changes but not a lot of them. I've been watching a lot of videos by Prabhu Deva and it's amazing how the dancers look like people I've met from Croatia, Germany, and the British Isles. Gene |

Who's Gary?
It's believed Indians are historically connected to Europeans through the ancient Aryan people of the Caucasus mountain region. Not sure if it's 100% true though, but that's the most credible story so far. Good observation

Gary is the "redneck" in question who resembles that kid. Put Gary under the sun long enough and give that kid too much food and they'd be twins.

The original "Indo-European" was sort of recreated in Russia. I've heard it spoken - spooky stuff. http://www.grsampson.net/Q_PIE.html There could have been several migrations there and back. The Indians (or their ancestors) had a civilization in the Indus river about 5,000 years or more ago. Who can say who traded with whom, migrated and so on? For example, the "Romi" of Europe, known as "Gypsies". Gene |

I do know that there is not an "Indian" language. I think that the Indian government uses both English and "Standard Hindi", the latter being kind of like Putanhua (common tongue) in China (aka Mandarin). I speak a tiny bit of Mandarin but am hoping to learn more of it.
Hey, maybe if I'm lucky I'll also pick up Standard Hindi too. My employer (whose name I do not use online) has a global presence, including both India and China. Gene |
