I'm paying $388.88 a month for a yaris.

It's really high because my credit score was 604 according experian. I financed the car with no money down at $388.88 a month for 72 months. that includes $700 for gap insurance and $1980 for 84 month platinum warranty service. The total amount financed is 19,817.53. If I pay the minimum every month, I would end up paying 27,999.36. They are charging me 12.14 APR. I think I'll use my mom's credit to refinance.

how much are you guys paying?

should I use my mom's credit to refinance? she has a credit score of 697

Oh man. I really hate tell you this, but you got ripped off really really bad. If your mom is willing to cosign for you, you should have done that to begin with. 72 months is WAY too long to finance a car. You should really only do 48 months, 60 at the very most. If you can't afford the payments at 48 or 60, then buy a cheaper car. $700 for gap and $1980 for your million year warranty was a waste. How much did you pay for the car itself? Listen to Clark Howard on talk radio, or at least go to his website. You'll want this to be the only time you've thrown thousands of dollars away. I'm actually surprised you got a 12% rate with a 604 credit score. That dealership has got to love you.

O-M-G OP you're getting ripped. Lol how can one person (you) drive a Yaris at an overall cost of $25K+, and another (me) hand over $12900 in cash and be done with it? Unbelievable. I'm stunned.

It's a Toyota, there's no need for the $2K bend-me-over-and-take-it-in-the-pooper extended warranty. Same deal with the gap insurance....waste.

+1

its the reason we bought toyotas, so we wouldnt have to buy extended warranties. you can still get a refund for your warranty if done though toyota corporate. it may be prorated from the day you purchased it, but some money back is better than nothing. if you got a third party warranty, you may be SOL. and like others have said, if you can refi and change to a 48 month plan, please do so. these lingering payments over 6 years can possibly ruin what should be a joyous purchase. hope this helps a bit..

While the GAP insurances they offer at the dealership may be over-priced, GAP insurance is definitely not a waste IMO. My 2007 just got totaled, and the GAP saved my a$$. I agree about the warranty however.

265 a month with 6k down. I will be paying it off by Dec 31st though.
Every cent I own is going to go towards this car.

Price out the door: $12,500, $3,500 down.

Before Re-fi: $203/month for 7 years.
After: $185/month for 6 years

Credit was just barely good enough to let my bank cut me lots of slack with the interest rate. Didn't think it would go that far down, but I guess an Equifax score of 735 will allow it... Still think I got lucky, no complaints though
