I get a rymthic hum at about 72-75 MPH?
I have noticed this after the break in period. (kept it slow for break in) I get a very rymthic hum at a little over 70 MPH. every 2 seconds or so..on then off. sounds like it is coming from the front somewhere. hasn't really bothered me a ton i have rebalanced the tires & rotated & also replaced the wheels, (not for this but to get away from the hubcaps). i can only hear it when the radio is off. very light sound. just wondering if anyone has the same sound. I now have 13,000 miles & it has never been to the dealer. i have done all my own maintance.,, 1,000 mi oil...3,000oil...5,000 syn oil... 10,000 syn oil. checked trans fluid properly.

You will hear many noises coming from somewhere in the Yaris. I get a whine/hum at about 40mph.
Sleep well at night, as you have a 3 year/36 month warranty. If it gets worse, take it to the dealer. The noise is probably normal. The hum/whine still remains a mystery though. I wish I knew what it is. VVT? solenoid? rotational frequency of transaxle? or engine (not likely)? |

yeah it isn't that loud, I kinda figured it was fairly normal. and actually I have the 100K Toyota extended warranty, so I was not too worried. just wondering if people had similar noises. love the forum. it helped me do the TRD lowering springs in about 2 hours, I need to get a picture up

actually.. mine became more noticeable ever since i got a control arm/table changed. And mine has a part that is out of spec, and that cannot be adjusted in the alignment.

I get it too 60-65 and up. I had a car a few years ago it came with cheap tires which had the same kind of hum, I changed them to a better tire and the hum went away. I want to change the tires soon on my car anyway they are already wearing, maybe it will help?

Its our tires. If you have the factory bridgestones the only way to get rid of that road noise is to replace the tires. But dont worry they have a treadwear of a mear 160. So that will happen very soon. Even with proper rotation the max life you will get is maybe 2 years.

I get that noise also. Thought it was my aftermarket 17" tires, but the 14" snows do it also. So I assume it isn't tire related.

The yaris has no sound deadning. The pronounced road noise and that hun at aroung 65-75 is allways going to be there unless you put in a lot of dynomax.
