Updated Sound System.
Is there any package out there from toyota offering an upgrade in the sound system for the yaris?
Can they put the pioneer system in my yaris from the scion models? The speakers and sound system in my yaris is just horrible! I NEED an upgrade and need more speakers. |

waste of money, the "premium" sound systems from car companies aren't very good, regardless of car manufacturer. You're better off just spending that $1k you'd spend at an audio store and have them install 1 set of 6.5 components up front, plus a 75x4 rms amp, plus a 10" sub.

Sorry, I don't believe you, and yes, I've heard many bose speakers in my time, including in cars... Bose blows... no matter where or what it is. EDIT: I totally believe one pair of speakers up front is enough. Actually even one speaker would be enough.... but the fact remains, the factory is good for talk radio... and mediocre at even radio music. Upgrading should be mostly for better quality, not for volume, tho, throw an aftermarket amp on the new speakers and you should be able to get louder too... even with just two speakers. |

NEVER!
When I went to pick up my new Yaris at the dealer, they had intalled a stereo after I'd told them I didn't want one.
"We'll let you have it at "cost", they said. "Just $300." I actually laughed! "Take it out!" |

Drop a hundred decent 6.5 speakers and you will have a better sounding system tham you can buy from Toyota for the Yaris. Installing them is easy plug and play.

The stock speakers in my 5-door '09 sound better than the Kappa component speakers I put in my '07.

No. My ears are fine. The Kappas sounded too metallic / tinny.
Also, it's "are new ears", not "is new ears". |

P198105:Its not just about loudness, it about the quality of the sound. The ability to hear nuance in the music, like being able to pick out a vocal from the music, or hear a guitar solo. In elctronic music you can hear everysynthetic note, as opposed to a blur of electronicic sound It is also about being able to kick up the base for a more driving beat without having the speakers distort.
IsLNdbOi: I think you are right about your little grammar correction. It is a reverse sentence structure. Ears is ( in this case the word ears, not the thing ears, and therefore is is the correct verb in this situation)the subject of the sentence. Plurality of the verb follows follows the subject, not the object. Sorry about your poor choice of speakers. My $125 worth of carefully chosen 4 way and 5 way Pioneer speakers kick top of the line OEM butt, 07 or 09, both in clarity and in production of loud undistorted sound. ...this is my arena...
The mini insults should be recognized especially when referring to factory systems. Sorry, Bose (blows) is NOT good sound. I've ripped enough of those POS systems out of high end vehicles after listening to them and understanding exactly why the owner wanted more. Aside from the obvious, nuances are the ability to hear the artist breathe, the fingers on the strings of a guitar, to the ambiance of a medium sized recording studio... You people need to hear the track "These Bones" from the Fairfield Four on an IASCA competition system sometime. You can close your eyes, hear the bass smack dab in the center of the soundstage as the track starts. You can actually hear him articulate the words and the movement of his mouth as the songs go along. After he starts the track about five seconds into it, the rest of the "four" come in two on each side of him. Yes I know that makes five...the rest of the group expand the soundstage like I've never heard before. It's a stunning track...truly. The group should sound immense, like they fill the soundstage past each a-pillar. They should be deep ON or slightly above the dash even going to out to the hood of the vehicle. I could write so much more about the track in particular but I say raspberries to the people who think Bose is even a good soundsystem. The speaker location is poorly planned, the speakers themselves are poor quality, the amplifiers are poor to average quality... Give me a month or two after I get out of this dustbowl, you'll see pictures, and I'll invite you to take a seat in the Yaris. Even just sitting in it...it is now quieter than an AMG Merc and I still have more deadening to do. The speaker placement will be ideal for a Yaris sedan and the signal chain will be worked over very well. DO NOT take this as smug or snotty, it isn't mean to be that way. Bose just sucks.

decent
No really, as far as popular and easily accessible brands out there.... Infinity Probably is one of the better ones. But companies like Quart & Focal are almost as accessible.

Damn Taln...you're chanelling my thoughts from halfway across the world!
To add, Focal's access line (being the brand's entry level) is just fine for a factory upgrade. I remember 6 years ago at a Car Toys event, auditioning the Focal demo car. All it had was access components. They were playing Popsicle Toes by Diana Krall. Great sound. The build was too showy for me but still, it sounded great. Oh hey Taln, I'what do you think about this 25mm beauty? ![]()

I agree, you should NEVER get the premium sound upgrade from the dealer. Its a total waste of money. You can go to a local stereo store (not a chain) and get the same quality for alot cheaper. Or better yet, buy higher quality stuff and install it yourself. You get the stereo upgrade and the satisfaction that you did it yourself
