They Yaris is wearing 215/45-15 Toyo T1-R's. Not the greatest tire for autocross, but a fantastic street tire. I really just wanted to try out that size. Toyos tend to run narrow, though, so it's really no wider than a 205... I think it's about the same as a 195 Azenis!

Awesome pics! Are you still driving it with the front sway bar disabled?

Yep. I haven't touched anything on the car since I did that. Got the shocks adjusted to where everything feels right and just left it alone.
Thinking about going back to my softer rear springs, though. It's just too harsh on the street. |

my car is featured at 0:55. it drove fairly well with the new set up. shocks all on full stiff, 3kg F Tanabe springs, 6kg R T1R Fit springs, stock front sway bar, no rear sway bar. i actually think it would help to tighten the front bar up a little. the car was oversteery at times.

OP - looks like you had lots of fun, but that course was really grassy? You might need to convince them to have more autox events to keep the weeds at bay

Softening the rear shocks would help with the oversteer.
Generally speaking, the only time you need to run shocks at full stiff is to band-aid another fundamental problem. With your spring rates, the car should have very good balance. You only need enough damping to keep the springs from oscillating. Try running them at about 50% all around, and then stiffen the front as needed to reduce the oversteer. If that doesn't get you there, look at rear camber. |
