2010 "Sport" package question

I'm thinking about buying a Yaris. 5 door hatch.

In the 2010 printed brochure there is an package called "Sport".

Thats the one I want, but when I go to Toyota's website to build my Yaris, the "Sport" package is not an option to choose.

Also there are no "Sport" package optioned cars at any dealerships near me.

Does this "Sport" packaged car actually exist? Anyone care to shed some light on this? The online chat person from toyota's website only gave me a canned answer that no dealerships in my area ordered the "sport" packaged cars.

Thanks.

I haven't looked at any new literature, but I assume you're referring to what I know as the "S" package. If this is the case, the "S" package includes various cosmetic upgrades like alloys, rocker extensions and front/rear bumper additions. I don't believe that the "S" package included any actual performance upgrades except for maybe the alloys.

Again, there may be some new package since I haven't seen any 2010 Yaris option info. I assume that, if there is a "Sport" package, it'll be relatively rare like the "S" package.

There are many threads about this. If you want one you will have to order it and it will take anywhere between 3-6 months to come in. The Yaris is an economy car so dealers don't order the Sport because it's about $3,000 more than a regular Yaris and they think they will have a hard time selling it. Whats your location?

thanks for your input. I did do a "quick" search and did not come up with any threads about it.

Your answer sounds logical though, I guess if I really want it I will have to order it, and thats OK because I have to finish out my current lease anyways - so time is on my side.

I am in the Seattle area.

but couldn't I also just get the regular one and option it out with all the goodies that come with the "S".

wonder if that would cost more or less than just ordering the "S".

link me if you want to, to the many threads about this topic - and I will head over to those threads and cease my line of questioning if it has all been answered before.

again, thanks for the help, seems like a nice forum yall got here.

No need to stop asking questions, but HERE is one of the recent threads that discusses this. The US used to have "S" versions of cars available, but no more as of the '10 model year. Now we have the Sport Package available instead (with or without alloys, and which includes the Power Package features plus spoiler, lip kit, and fog lights). It doesn't include sway bar or lowering springs, though... those are separate options. The full list of what it includes can be found on the Toyota site.

I looked at the S edition, but found it lacking... Dealers in my neighborhood looked at me like I grew a second head when I asked about it. Seems like Toyota does not offer it in most areas. IMHO, it's not worth it. You get an upgraded stereo, trd springs (i think a trd sway bar) heavy 17" alloys, a few other tweaks and a (ugly IMHO) body kit. Not really worth it, to get a car that looks like every one else's S edition. I say, get the standard and use the extra money to buy custom stuff to make it your own/better then the standard s

The approach many take, and will actually slam 'S' owners, is to buy the lesser model and mod it up. To some people, the fact that the 'S' comes with nicer interior fabrics, and more bolstered seats is enough to justify the cost. These details cannot be easily addressed if buying a lower trim model and optioning up, or aftermarket modding.

excellent points.

I am more than likely going to go that route.

Optioning up - the way I want to spend that $3k sounds like the way to go.

do you get the same Yaris brochure we get here in the states?

the best picture I have seen of the Sport package is in the 2010 Yaris brochure.

its funny cuz it is like a poster size pic of the Sport Yaris, yet Toyota chooses not to make very many of them.

if you want, PM me your address and I'll send you a 2010 brochure.

go to toyota.com and then to the "build your own" section. Type in the zip code "75701"
You are able to see that the "S" is available in this region and what comes with the package.

one good reason to go with S is that you finance it, which is a good thing seeing you would have to pay up front with any mod you add on to a non S. I mean having to pay 80 bucks albeit an awesome deal for a S cluster is already saying something about buying an S, sell the body kit for people who want it (there ARE people who will pay for it) and get lots of money for what you havent even paid off yet.

Im not truly complaining that i got a non S, i swapped interior panels with a local S owner, its awesome to have the color the way it is in both cars.
