Would 6.5" speakers fit the front without modification? or am I just best off buying 5.25" speakers? Another questions, is 100W or 150W sufficient for a sub-woofer in the yaris? anyone running this kinda of wattage on their sub?
Thanks yarisworld!! |

...'modification' is such a funny word. You should be just fine with the 6.5. If anything you might fab up a .5'' baffle. It's easy. As for the sub wattage, t depends on the sub and the user's tastes.

I just looking for a sub that completes the sounds. I'm not looking to have the car thumping like crazy. I just want a clean crisp bass. I was looking at a 100W JL audio vs. a 150W kicker sub.

Which JL and which Kicker? Clean crisp bass? I'd go for an ID8 in a .45^3 sealed enclosure. Lotsa output on that little 8" woofer. It's not too expensive either. What amp are you looking at for the JL or Kicker? Watch yourself with the online purchases...

6.5" will fit in the front doors. Watch the depth. You might have to trim a little. I took a hacksaw blade and cut out the center of the stock speakers, and just mounted the new speakers on the plastic ring.
Sorry, but I didn't take any photos. If you drill out the rivets, and remove the entire speaker, you will probably need to use adapter rings. You can make them yourself out of some 3/4" MDF. You need some bass? Here is a cheap solution:

an 8" is a little small imo (i'm running dual 8's currently). Go with a 10", higher efficiency so it'll get louder with the same amount of wattage, and will play a little lower (all variables being the same.... which they never are).
I'd always pick JL over Kicker unless you are aiming to be obnoxious and loud. JL makes quality products, kicker... errr.... they cater to those who want to be loud. |
