I still fail to understand why someone would take an inexpensive, good running economy car and dump thousands of dollars into it to get a little more horsepower. Why not buy a car with this already installed and save some money. The yaris is designed to be good, realiable basic transportation not a money pit. Just my old two cents worth.

Because it's great fun to get as much as you can from something that IS a cheap car. It's like overclocking (if you know what that is) for computers.

^^lol, yea.. i mean, yea.. my friend is like that.. his computer sounds like a damn jet engine when its at full potiential. he say, "u hear that, thats the sound of power!" with a huge grin on his face.. same with cars.. when that turbo spools up and u here that sound of forced air into the turbo manifold and you gotta use ur neck muscles to look down at the boost guage and see the needle at 10psi and then look over at realize u need to shift. u let that foot off the gas and hear the sound of that blowoff valve "pshh" so loud.. and the old lady next to u jumps and almost runs off the road..

makes ur hair stand up i tell u..

you missed the point, why not spend a little more and get a car with all these on it instead of stressing the yaris beyond is design limits.

Wish I had a deep pocket to do these mods but feel that yaris is a great little car as is and if I total it I'll get pretty close to my cost out of it where most insurance companies wont insure your thousands of dollars of mods, infact they may refuse to insure you if they are aware of the mods. Enjoy,.

How much is a little more?

Im willing to bet that for the same price of a "faster" car, the yaris could be made even faster, not to mention unique.

we dont get the luxury of getting the best TS models, Vitz and other oem turbo, 1.8L engines in the states.. we have to settle for the S model which only includes some comsmetic looks...

i have not always had deep pockets, i saved my money by stretching a 20 dollar bill for a week for food. i didnt get into trouble and stayed off drugs.. i worked hard on my crx for 10 solid years. i worked my way up to where i am now making a good living with enough extra money to do as i wish in moderation.

as for the insurance goes, as long as you have your receipts, be honest with your agent and let him know what you are doing and if they will cover it.. u will have to pay a little bit more a month/6months. but they will cover it in most cases. i have progressive and they will cover my mods, but i refused cuz i can easily swap them out if anything should happen. ive talked to my agent and he is cool about it.. as long as nothing is missing

ALSO. just keep your OEM parts as u upgrade your own.. who knows, u may want to sell it and the customer wants just a economy car. so u can swap all ur parts back and possible make a bit more by selling ur aftermarket stuff.. of course u wont get ALL ur money back but its something. hell, i put almost 30k in my crx over 10 years.. i just sold the shell for $650, the JDM stuff for 800, and after i rebuild the old motor, prob gonna try to get $1k..

its a fun hobby and a great learning expericience.. better than being on drugs =P

thanks for the comments i will be searching long and hard i managed to get hold of a mate who is helping with the engine and am getting a bored out cylinder head to 1.7l with a custom built manifold and a supra stage 1 turbo from hks and uprated internals and gearbox with stronger materials mostly custom built so will post pics and stats im now hoping for about 400bhp with everything done, but the not to tha magmag guy its the fun of it and the knowlage you have created a one of a kind beast i have had quicker cars and there not as fun to drive so if you stick with reliable cars and put reliable parts on it is still reliable
