Bent Rim!! with pic - Toyota Yaris Forums

So, last night I was at a friends place and we were checking out his girl's new Fiat 500...so we took it for a spirited sprint around their apartment complex. Next thing you know we get into my 08 hatch and are speeding around. One turn led to another and I slid into a curb, smashing the hell out of my rim. The bumper and all seemed fine but the rim is so bent that I get a wheel shake when I drive it.
Does anyone know id any 15 4-100 steelie will support our hub caps? Because I found one that may be the right size, the guy is unsure if it is 15 x 5.5 but is sure its a 15. Any help would be awesome.

Wow thats amazing it still holds air. Dismounting that tire could be a issue to swap to the new rim. May slightly damage the bead. Also definitely have your alignment checked once its all finished its garenteed to be out.

Thank you, all. Thank you. It was tough smashing into a curb but, as always, I found a way to succeed.
I drove about 20 miles on the freeway after that, at about 65 mph, and the steering wheel was shaking a bit (which isn't normal for my car).

I haven't driven it since and have already ordered a new rim and a set of new tires (I was due since they were balding with 52k miles on them). The car drifted a bit to the right but nothing crazy. I'll see whats up with the alignment after the new tires are installed.

Anyone have an idea of what an alignment job should cost?

It was not possible to align my 1980 Subaru Hatchabck. You just put it together and thats what you got. Except for the tie rods of course (toe in) We have an alignment specialist in Camden Schemps. That guy was an expert. He always told the truth.

I suspect all modern cars arethat way now. Although I dont know it for sure. I DO know my buddy years ago had "problems" with his alignment so he took it to be aligned. After words he said "Wow they fixed it THE CAR DRIVES LIKE NEW!"

Then I pointed out none of the well rusted fasteners that had to be loosened to adjust the steering were touched at all.

So much for alignments.

I suspect alignments are like synthetic oil.

I guess you just need to find the proper mechanics shop to do the alignment.

Alignment most times if nothing is broken is about $100,you should get a printout of what the alignment was when it started and what it was when it was done.......

If you bent a control arm or tie rod the cost goes up for parts and labor.....

Got lucky with a bent rim and trashed tire.....slow down and stay around a while the planet has a lot of neat things to do and see.....lol

A lot of times something could be slightly damaged or out of wack but still can be corrected with alignment. I am a alignment tech at a bodyshop and see cars daily that are in colission that you have a range of specification and a new car would be somewhere in the middle giving you either way movement slight adjustment. The cars after colission will take all the way max range one way or the other to correct and its barely within limit. So obviously something is slightly bent that may not be visually apparent. However according to insurance its within range so we have to let it go.

I work on mostly european cars at my shop and all of them have adjustment for camber and toe. I just did a 87 porsche the other day that had adjustment for camber toe and even caster.

The yaris i know has no adjustment in the rear unless you use shims. The front is only toe. Camber is only adjustable by means of a camber bolt or grinding the stock bolt to make it a little smaller to allow strut movement.
