Crashy becomes the World's Only Yaris Dump Truck

Name: Crashy - Dumping Topsoil.jpg
Views: 2485
Size: 103.7 KB

This week I finished my latest development on Crashy. She now has a dump bed. Since her plow is electric, rather than hydraulic, I decided to stick with that theme and used a linear actuator rated for 1320 lbs of lift. I used a six terminal snow plow solenoid to allow me to control the lifting and lowering of the bed with a 3 position rocker switch, mounted to the dash, next to the one for the snow plow. I welded a support structure for the linear actuator and a frame to make the bottom of the molded bed stiff enough to be lifted. The bed is from a 15 cubic foot Rubbermaid garden tractor trailer.

My daughters and I gave it a test run today, moving 3 yards of topsoil around the yard. Fortunately, it is never hard to get them to give me a hand with outside projects that involve driving Crashy.

Here's a video of it in action:

If you don't know the history of Crashy - Here's her thread:

If I ever come across a wrecked Yaris, I plan on sending it to you for some modifications. Would be rather fun here on the farm

Makes me want to get rid of my 4x4 ATV!

How about a rail buggy Yaris, now that would be cool!

For those who want to see a bit more of what a Yaris truck looks like, here's a video of my 9 year old cruising around the yard with it:
