Lowered Springs - Toe, camber, caster alignment (Which ones)? - Toyota Yaris Forums

I'm installing lowered springs soon, and once they settle in I'll be heading to an alignment shop. He says I won't be touching the caster alignment so it should be fine and I might need a toe and camber. Does that sound right? Or is just toe? o.o? Confused...noob here Thanks yarisworld

The alignment should adjust camber and toe to whatever spec you say, including factory settings. I like a little negative up front on my cars.

What do you mean? An alignment should always align all 4 wheels. Or do you just mean don't let them charge you twice?

There's nothing to align on the Yaris rear suspension. It can be adjusted with a shim kit or by unbolting/bolting the subframe, but I've never heard of it being needed.

Unless you were in an accident of some kind.

Toyota tried to get me for a 4 wheel alignment on my vibe....I told them 2 wheel only...rears were fine after a 2" drop (so were the fronts, actually)

I thought the ONLY adjustment possible on the front was toe?

There is definitely a little camber adjustment available in the front. If you loosen both strut bolts, you'll feel a little play there, pretty sure.

Oh, okay. So it's not a real camber adjustment with slotted mounting holes and eccentric washers...

I wish Toyota had made at least the caster adjustable. As others have posted, the Yaris is kind of "darty" on the freeway and I was hoping to increase the caster a bit. Also, my steering pulls to one side which I was also hoping to increase caster on one side...

I believe we have a bushing kit that corrects caster.

For more camber adjustment, you can do any of these, though I have always gone with option 1.

1. buy adjustable camber bolts
2. buy thinner Toyota fixed camber bolts
3. slot your struts.

Camber is not that big a deal to me (yet). Even when I lower it, it should go more negative. Plus I am used to the idea that camber is unadjustable without a camber plate on strut suspensions. But the Yaris is the first time I've heard of caster not being adjustable.

I don't like the darty feel of the steering (plus it pulls to one side) so I hoped to be able to increase caster.

Can a camber plate kit be turned 90degrees so that it becomes a caster plate kit? If so, does anyone make a camber plate kit for the Yaris or would I have to adapt one meant for another car?
