There are I think three of them close to the center.
AFAIK that will only make the shield loose but to replace it you need to remove the front wheel hub and it is likely you will damage or destroy your wheel bearing during this operation. |

I don't know if Yaris' are this way but on some cars those dust shields are spot welded or pressed on.

You dont need to remove the hub/bearing if you dont mind damaging/bending the offending shield.
Mine came loose and was rattling after my recent track day and with the rotor off I was able to bend the slit in the middle of the shield and pry it off. I didnt see any bolts holding it on but they could have rusted out hence why the shield started rattling. Something tells me it is pressed on though and not bolted on

Ahh I see. Where the shield flange is sort of cut away is where.mine rusted through. This likely is the reason it.came loose and wouldn't snug back up. Also the reason why I was able to simply pry it out of place

The drivers side one is loose on my car. When i replaced my CV boot i had to do a lot of bashing in order to separate the ball joint from the knuckle because it was seized and most of the inner lip of the dust shield was just rust and it pretty much all disintegrated. I tried to wedge what was left of it back on but it was rubbing and rattling the second i pulled off my drive.
I'm not sure if its an MOT failure over here to just remove it. I think i'm just going to get a less rusty knuckle from the scrapyard with the dust shield still attached and replace the whole thing.

I saw a mechanic on YouTube install one by cutting it and bending it to get it over the hub and then straightening, welding it back together. Kind of fiddly. Or you could get a knuckle from the scrap yard with the shield still attached and it better condition.

Strange... my Yaris has the same covers as on this video and they are bolted.
