Just bought a 26 year old yaris in Sweden..it has no rust..

As of August 2026 I own a first generation yaris made in Japan in October 2000.
Living in sweden with snow and icy roads - coarse sand and salt
I was very surprised that this little green yaris had no rust whatsoever!

It has "only" rolled 130000 km. Finding a 26 year old car with no rust in a country were wintertires is mandatory 4 months of the year - I count myself lucky!

Maybe that will change after this winter as I've read that the rust protection on these cars are nothing to write home about. This car cannot have been used much or at all during the winter months.

I am eager to learn how to keep this car in this condition while using all year round.
