17x7 +38 rims with 215/45/17 tires

I plan on getting a set of 17x7 +38 rims to go with my 215/45/17 tires, but I was curious if this would fit with NO RUB. -Anthony

I think if you don't lower your car, you should be fine.

But, 7's with a +38mm offset and a 215 tire is pushing the front package past the outer limits. Your fronts are going to stick out just a bit which does look kinda goofy. But, some guys don't really care.

BTW, what wheels are you looking at?

Can't you find something you really like with a +42mm or more offset.

I know it's tough to find exactly the right wheel!

C-ONE SA-70. I'll go with the +43. the bolt pattern is 4x100 right?

Yeah, the Yaris is 4x100.

The Weds SA-70 is a nice Japanese wheel, but must be expensive and probably takes a bit of time to get.

Not sure, but I think you can stagger the offsets with that wheel if you want.

A lot of Japanese guys do that.

For example, 43mm up front and 38mm rear. Just a thought.

ok... i'm going to get the trd lowering spring and maybe, just maybe the trd shocks and struts.

i want to know if the 215/45/17 tires will fit with a +42 offset?? will any feed back is great. thanks guys!

yup it will fit, long as you don't mind the constant rubbing when turning, after you lower it, it will probibly rub on bumps and while turning.... but nothing some inner fender modification can't fix

215/45R17 is an awfully tall tire compared to the stock

T-Sport: OEM 17x6.5, ET51, 205/45/17.

215/45/17's are only 3/10ths of an inch (1.6%) taller than OEM, so height should be no problem whatsoever.

You want to run 17x7, ET42. With this wheel, 205 rubber may be tucked by a few mm's up front. If you run a 215, your front tire may stick out a couple of mm's which just looks stupid!

You may be fine with either setup at stock height; however, you want to lower your car, and that is where you may run into problems.

To avoid rubbing problems, you should probably run 205/40's up front, and 205/40's or 215/40's in the rear.

You should run 205/40/17 (slightly smaller (what I use)), 205/45/17 (slightly larger), or 215/40/17 (exact stock replacment). A 215/45/17 is really tall; you WILL rub if you lower your car, maybe even without lowering.

205/45/17 is OEM (T-sport) @ 24.3", and this is the size you should run if you don't lower the car.

215/45/17 @ 24.6" is not much taller (1.6%), and it won't make any significant difference in height whatsoever; you'll just have a wider footprint. If you don't lower your car, you would be fine, but the sidewall may poke out a bit up front with a 7" ET42mm, and will definitely stick out with with ET38mm.

So, as Peter indicated above, you should run 205/40/17's if you plan to lower your car. You can stagger the sizes front to rear if you like. Staggered wheel widths, offsets, and/or tire sizes are a common application on the Vitz in Japan.

You could run 205/40's up front and 215/40's in the rear. This would look excellent and compensate (5mm's) for the obvious FR/RR difference.

^ I ran motegi's 17x7 front 205/40/17 back 215/40/17 when i had the 215's in the front I rubbed on turns and bumps as well as the inner fender... I had and still have been running TRD Sportivo shock and strut set with the TRD lowering springs

Go 215 40r17 It's a .98 difference compared to 1.28 with the 45
