I know you say 205/55 R15 or 225/55 R15 but I checked the tire calc and205/50 R15 is by no means way too small. It is within the reccomended tire size. I'll register slightly over the speed limit. Sure 205/55 R15 is a bit closer to stock but...

Correct. It's not *way* too small, sure it's a bit too small, but it better suits a Yaris size/weight than a 225/50 15, that's for sure.

Ideal *sizing* for the Yaris (IMO of course) is 195/55 15 or 195/50 16. If a sticky 195/55 15 was good enough for a 195 hp Integra Type R from Honda race engineers, it's ok for a Yaris.

I really dont want to do this,but I will.There is no diffrence if you have 15's or 17's,if the diameter is the same,everything else will be the same,because the car is still turning a 205,or 215.But for the most part,people go wider when they go bigger,which does add weight and rolling resitence,thats where most people loss performance,I myself use 35psi on all tires to help balance out the diffrence,Ive got 17's instead of my stock 15's.
Think of it this way,you could have a 1 incn rim,the rest just tire,but the diameter is still 215,the engine would act the same,ofcourse you wouldnt stay on the road long;),so that said,I actually feel alot more stable with my 17's and skinny rubber,and just as quick as stock,actually alot quicker now.

Looks great! But when you say amazing difference, what exactly are you referring to? I've got the shit stock Bridgerock 14s and am very unsatisfied with the handling...want to upgrade to alloys but to what size? 15,16 or 17s? And why?

Well thanks, I mostly drive somewhat aggresively, if there's a corner I like to push it a bit. But with stock 14s it feels like I've reached the limit just at about what feels like the speed I'd like to easily do. The rest of the time is, you know, Seattle traffic etc. with some shit ass bumpy road surfaces. I'm thinking that the 17s might not have enough give for our pot holes, but maybe the 16s would be a reasonable compromise between handling and bump absorbtion. What d'ya think?
