Do yourself a favor and thoroughly research the vehicle you are interested in. Make dam shore you know the invoice, hold backs and any other incentives available. If you don't like what your friendly stealership is telling you then WALK. The upside to this is that you are in an area that makes people competitive to seal the deal. If you have good credit nail down your financing before you walk through the door. If you have a car to move before sealing the deal do your best to make a private sale. You will be ok if you hit the door confident with some prior knowledge. If you go in blind they are going to use your ass ala "Shaw Shank Redemption"!!!

i know what you mean...when i was doing research on LB, a sales guy in Sunnyvale kept giving me excuse not to let me test drive a LB...because:

1, i'm not trading in
2, i'm not buying their used car

so basically he's making jack squad out of me, that's why he tried so hard to steer me away from the Yaris. But doesn't mean you can't buy what you want. All you do is ask for a test drive just before they close...Let them do the "talk to my manager" crap or what not...They either give you what you want (given that it's reasonable), or the finance, sales manager AND the sales guy stay late for nothing. I know this isn't cool, but hey, they started it

the fact that the service manager would even think that you were going to cover cost on any of this stuff is rediculous. I used to be a service writer, I know how that stuff goes. If the dealer, shop, or whoever screws up, it's their responsibility to fix it. If this is one of several incidents with them, I'd make sure they cover the cost on everything.
