For the love of everything I can't figure out why my insurance is so high. In Manitoba I paid less than 1500$ for a new BMW 3 series. In Toronto I pay:

$3601 for my yaris = 300 a month!

Factors which don't help me:

I have one accident in February of 2004
I live in gang Territory in Scarborough

The gang territory thing is huge, because my insurance went from 2800 to 4200 on my previous car just because of the move from Mississauga to Scarborough.

Oh and that's with a $1000 dollar deductable! This province is insane!

I'm 33.

1 speeding
and an at fault accident on my reccord

I am 25 (26 tomorrow) and my wife is 27

Anyway, on the Golf at that rate I had a $50. deductible for comp and $250. for collision. After, hitting them up for all the discounts I could including a long term customer discount I changed my comp to $250. and collision to $500. and that brought me down to $93. for the new Yaris.
BTW you need a new insurance company, because they just raped you with a watermelon..... VW parts are WAY more expensive than Toyota parts.... you need to get that watermelon out of your ass and get a new insurance company

I pay like 440 or so every 6 months.. which means it's about 73 a month. My boyfriend's car (under my name) is a vw rabbit is about 413 every 6 months or about $68 a month. Both of them are full coverage through state farm.

oh and i'm 22.. bf's 25. and state farm for some stupid reason listed me as married and i have been too lazy to correct them.

Sherryberry, the rate for married couples is less. FYI: When you call them to correct the marital status your premium will increase.

I'm 24 and pay $122/mo with full coverage, $3,000,000 liability, Road Star package and a bunch of other extras.

British Columbia has a public (ie. gov't run socialized) insurance system that keeps base rates extremely low, but everyone gets additional coverage from private insurers. I'm getting a 40% discount for good driving since I was 16 and when I turn 25 next year I'll be eligible for another 10% discount (max is 60% I think) as well as more options for private insurers. There's something about private insurance options being very limited to persons under 25 in B.C.

The rates are really awesome though. I lived in Alberta for a few months in 2005 and had to switch over my insurance on my old '89 Dodge Daytona. I looked into a full year of comparable coverage from Alberta's fully private system and it would have cost me something like $450/mo AND it didn't include glass coverage.

Wow, I didn't imagine insurance would be so cheap in the states. I'm paying $116 a month as the third, occasional driver. When I had my '94 Probe GT I was paying $380 a month, and when I was thinking about buying a yaris that was 100% mine, I got quoted no cheaper than $650 a MONTH for a 2006 4 DR hatch.

WAHOOO.. my insurance rate just went down to $334.71 for six months. they recalculated something after I complained and now it's $334.71.. full coverage.. 500 deductible and all that other mumbo jumbo. So basically, $55.78ish a month. And I'm not even 25 yet.

Seriously...how can you people in the USA get so cheap insurance rates? even $100 a month USD would be a cakewalk for me if I was the first driver. I did an online quote and I'd be paying $600 a month if I was first insured, and I did it again where I only changed my age to 26...everything else I kept the exact same, and it still quoted me $390 a month for an 06 4 door hatchback. Even one of the guys I work with is paying $550 a month minimum coverage for a '97 Paseo. Ridiculous...
