New stereo on it's way.

Sorry to say, I returned this stereo 45 days after I purchased it, because of it couldn't get and FM channels near my house and only AM were clear (stock radio has no problem), DVD player only worked about half the time, the fan got very noisy. Also the display went out a few times too, just couldn't handle it anymore, crutchfield refunded me the full cost and even mailed me back a disc that I left in the unit free of charge. I really like the way it look, but to many problems with unit for me, maybe others will have better luck.

I know it's nothing, but I like it.

Just thought I share on what I got, I will post pictures when I install it, on that note what tools do I need to make this install easy for me to do?

Nice and clean looking piece. Your Crutchfield order should come with installation instructions. Oh, do NOT buy the install cards! They are such a rip off. They'll sell you into an $80 card when all the shop sees is maybe $50. The shop will only do $50 of work too. Talk to the shop before you buy the card.

Just got new stereo today, well I got a little nervous about doing the install myself, so I think I'm either going to best buy or a local place that installs stereo's. I think I could install if it was just the head unit and no wires, but it has a lot of wires, it also requires you to install something into the back up light, I just rather have a professional do it.

Sorry for the long talk, but my question is does anyone know what best buy charges to install or a average cost of an install?

The install is really not that bad. You just match the labels on the HU's harness to the wires on the connector that plugs into the factory harness.

The backup light connection is probably just used if you have a backup camera connected.

There will also be an emergency brake connection which prevents playing DVDs unless the ebrake is up. Most people just ground that one so DVDs can be played anytime...

That looks awesome with it filling the space, without needing a trim kit!

Did you have BestBuy do the install?

No, I went to a place called sound solutions they charged me $40, the only thing I need to do is connect the by pass so I can watch DVD's, they charge $50 cash only to do that I didn't have $50 cash so I will go back another day to get that done so I can watch DVD's.

That's unbelievable - $40 to install, but $50 to ground one wire.

It is very easy - Look in the install guide for the e-brake interlock wire. You will simply take that one wire off of the e-brake switch and connect it to a ground point.

I just returned my stereo to crutchfield's because it's suck's it doesn't tune in on any fm station's, DVD's and CD's get stuck, and lastly the LCD display went out on me too. So if anyone is thinking about getting this stereo, "DON'T". At least having it for more than 30 days, Crutchfield is giving me a refund. So I will just stick to my factory stereo for now. I did like the stereo when it did work.

I will more than likely use the refund money for either a TRD muffler or shocks.

Don't give up on the double din set up. Check for an 08 Model and save some cash. Remeber to get a more reptibule brand. I have a Kenwood Dx6019 and love it. No probs with it at all. check here; http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/

...anyone who charges you to ground the "safety" wire is not a shop I'd EVER go back to.

It's too bad that you had a bad experience. Now, go to a reputable brick and mortar stereo shop! You MAY pay a little more up front but you don't have to mess with shady internet warranties and questionable equipment (in some cases).

Yes you can get some good deals off the internet...in most cases you pay for shipping though. Remember that. You'll have NO face to face support either.

Be smart with your next purchase.
