Wheel/Tire Sanity check

Plan is to switch to the Eibach 1" drop springs.

Want to use snow tires on the 15" stock steelies in the winter, not sure of the size probably 185/60/15.

Summer will be Scion xB wheels (15x6.5) with 195-55-15 Dunlop DZ101's.

Does this seem plausible?

your TPMS sensors won't work with those xb wheels.

I will be by-passing the TPMS.

Main thing I am not sure of is if a snow tire on the stock rims will work with the 1" drop.

You shouldn't have any problem. The OEM tires are 185/60/15 and with my TRD drop I've never had a touch. Winters shouldn't be any taller than summers. Perhaps a bit going from manf. to manf. but nothing significant.

No you won't.

Must people that see a decrease on MPG after changing wheels is because they run super heavy 17"

Look for a lightweight 15.

Konig and Rota both have some nice lightweight and affordable options like the Konig Heliums or the Feathers.

Regarding your tire options... not a big fan of the Direzzas 101. If I were you I would pay the difference and get the Direzza star specs... Those are some awesome summer tires... you won't regret it.

you should use 205/55R15 instead, especially when you have 15x6.5". 195/55R15 is a tiny bit smaller.

i have no choice to use 195/55R15, i have 15x5 wheels :(

OK last check. I found an incredible deal on 15x6.5" Nippon wheels with 205-50-15 tires. I found an anynomous white Yaris and photoshopped these wheels on. I am almost 40 so wanted to go with more conservatice OEM wheels but what do you think about these? Too crazy for an old man? Main reason for the new wheels is for better handling (also adding a TRD suspension.)

When you get to 45 you'll want to get some chrome wheels like I did. The hell with conservative!

jdinrc, thosae Chrome rims are fantastic, glad I'm not the only gray-beard around here.

There is sort of a catch with this wheel deal. The tires are calle Nankang N505. I told the seller I want summer-performance tires and he claims these are but I can find absolutely no info about this model N505, even on NaKang's website there is no info. I would hate to send the $600 and these turn out to be all-seasons.

The white Yaris with the 205 50 15 is perfect, the rims a good stlyle for the car.

Old at 'almost' 40???? What ya have planned for the next 50?

The chrome 5 spokes look great to me (prefer polished though). Personally have early MR2 rims...39 offset w/215 x 60 14's.
