Full Bolt Ons- Performance VS. Gas Mileage
Hey guys I was reading in a couple threads and noticed that some cars are making some pretty decent power increases from bolt-ons. Not just intake here or exhaust there, everything.
I was wondering if people can tell me everything they did, how much power they made, and if it affected their gas mileage in a good or bad way. Id assume that putting intake, headers, pulleys, and exhaust on the car is going to net you some decent whp but did you sacrifice mileage? |

intake/header/pulleys/exhaust and I dyno'd 108 whp. baseline was 94. My dyno is in the thread where dyno charts are posted.
Mileage wasn't affected for the same kind of driving -- but the point of those mods is to go faster so I drove.... well, faster!! Header is singular by the way, we have just the one header on our 4-cylinder cars.

so far i have pulleys, cai, and exhaust, but stock header and i feel a little bit more power i think the biggest difference was the pulley system, the pickup was so much better and smoother =)
mpg well depending on how i drive the first bar usually goes around 70miles for me |

as long as you dont get bigger injectors, fuel pump, rail, you should be ok, but if you want more power, get a faster car ;)

I think putting bigger wheels and tires will affect fuel economy more than simple bolt-on upgrades assuming you drive pretty much the same way.

A clutch doesn't add wheel horsepower?

You free up power that was already there. But still I'm curious.
It does if you could install a clutch and flywheel with a combined weight of 14 pounds.....similar to this....http://www.949racing.com/index.asp?P...rodID=197&HS=1 |
