Advice on new rims?

I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to modifying cars and whatnot, but anyhow I am going for a black/gold theme outside of my yaris sedan, and I wanted to get these rims.

They're about $900 for all 4 with tires included. I want to get them in 17s. Will this require any adjustments needing to be made w/ the suspension or anything? Also, what do those tire numbers mean, like 200/15 etc?

i think those would look pretty good

tires sizes:
first # (185,195,205, etc) is the width from shoulder to shoulder in millimeters
/
second # (65, 60, 40, etc) is the % of the first # giving the amount of sidewall
(a 205/50 would mean there is 50% of 205 =102.5 and that is the total height of the tire... so divide that by 2 and that is how much rubber you have between the rim and the road 51.25mm using the above example)

I see, that's good to know. Is there anything specific I should try to go for? I'm not trying to make them super super flush, but I'd like them to fill in some of the space without a real hassle. I see some threads on here that argue about offsets and all that, is there something standard I can put them on that'll make em look nice?

a safe offset is +40 to +45 on that wheel

if you are on a stock suspension i would recommend a 205/45R17 tire

Yes, I would be. Perhaps I should invest in a suspension before buying the new tires? No worries to me, just want to make sure I do it right. The tires that come with the package are all 205/40/17, is that alright? Or when I buy should I just buy the wheels, and purchase tires to those specifications later on?

Rear hub spacers help a lot in the looks department. You want to choose your wheels first so that you know how wide you can go with those. I have 205/50/15 tires and 10mm rear hub spacers with no rubbing.

What type of suspention setup do you have i have the same tires on mine with 10mm spacers and i get a rare occasional rubbing on the left rear on really hard dips sometimes.

I have NF-210's. I did use to get some rubbing on the right side, but that was due to a bump in the fender. The rubbing went away after I got that fixed.

I'll probably be going with the 205/40/15 tires that the website offers with the package since the new tires are cheaper that way. They have multiple types of tires to choose from but all of them, from what I've seen, are the same size. So what size should I be looking at? How expensive are they?

First, 205/40/17's are rather short if your car isn't dumped. OEM tyre size is 205/45/17. Some vendors stick you with 205/40's because they're dirt cheap compared to 205/45's. So, if you don't drop the car, the wheel gap with 205/40's will be monstrous!

Second, I would prefer to buy from discounttiredirect; sales reps here are actually knowledgeable about fitment, plus customer service during and after the sale is outstanding.

I'm a big fan of the black/gold combo. I did it before, and my car never looked so good. The only thing I would suggest would be a gold wheel with a polished lip instead of a black lip. I saw this one wheel on ebay that's made by Sportmax. It's the 006 model and it's in limited quantities. There's also the supermesh wheel sold at http://jlbmotorsports.com that will look good on a black car as well.

will 17 wheels will be rough than 15? i mean like bumpy, road noises... or it's depend on the tires?

17s are rough than 15s plus i think 17s are too heavy for the yaris, i used to have 17s with 205 40 17 and my car is my daily driver, change to 16s which i think is a good compromise between 15s and 17s with 195 50 16 when i cant bear the rough ride of the 17s.

As long as you don't get skinny ass tires, you should be ok. The more rubber, the more comfortable the ride! The best tires I ever tried out were 195/60/15's. I felt like I was riding on a cushion of air. Too bad they rubbed and looked kinda funny.

more sidewall is like an extra shock absorber...rubberbands dont absorb so well

i'm going with 215/45/17 or 205/50/16. not only will i get a larger sidewall, but i'm not going lower and it will provide more flex on bumps and i'll have a wider track. i'm also going with a 10mm spacer in the rear hub department, and possibly a ring spacer in the front...maybe 1/4" or so. i jsut gotta find the tires i want. thinking fuzion Hri/Zri or maybe some cooper zeons??? dunno

sounds good to me. my rims alone are over 650. and tires are about 100 each, and i'm using my dealership to install and get rid of tires so no fees there...just gotta swap over or rig the tpms stuff, valve stems, i can balance and mount myself so no fees there either...
