215/45/17 to 205/40/17
So I have a set of Falken 912s that are wearing down. These wheels were very good. Lasted a while, got at least 50K on em. There is still some tread left but at the rate im going, im gonna need some new tires soon. So im thinking about going to a smaller size cuz i rub a lil. So im thinking that if i get the smaller wheels that i wont rub AS MUCH.
Does anyone have any opinions of how the ride quality will be with that size tire? Thanks |

more harsh.
if you're rubbing, fix the problem. add some camber, trim your fender liners, etc. can you give your wheel specs please? also remember, with the shorter tire you'll have more "wheel gap" and your speedo will read higher than you're traveling

Right now I have 215-45-17
I have already trimmed the fenders. I haven't added any camber yet though, I'm not sure what I would need to do for that. |

From the pinned Wheel & Tire Guide.
FYI, OEM diameter is 23.7". Your 215/45/17 size is likely much too tall, hence the rubbing. Assuming the wheels are a correct spec., if I were you I'd switch to the 215/40/17 which would soon wear into OEM size range. 205/45/17 = 24.3* 205/40/17 = 23.5* 215/40/17 = 23.8 Good Luck!
