Just an idea I had....
Some might think it's a crazy one, but has anyone ever tried putting on 4 spare tires with like 60-70psi in each tire and gone for a road trip? I could only imagine it would be like riding a road bike VS and mountain bike, because the skinny spares would offer NO rolling resistance.
The only problem would be safety for stopping and turning. HAHA, I know a few of you are crazy enough to try this... SOMEONE DO IT!!! |

you would appear to get much much higher mpgs, but if the diameter of the spare is smaller than stock, you would have to account for this when computing the mpg. even after accounting for the smaller tires i'd imagine you would still see an improvement in mpg with the skinny hard spares.

I'm sure if you go the wreckers you'd be able to find wheels of the same Ø as the regular tires.

Youd also have to lay in money for suspension repairs as prolonged use of tires that hard is gonna play hell with suspension and create all sorts of new rattles and creaks for you to listen too! Enjoy! My Space save spare is supposed to be filled to 60psi and I know of guys on here that are doing that to their stock tires!!

I don't think spare tires are going to be any harder than my 205/40 16 I run in the summer.

Image how hideous that would look?
 Even if someone tried it they'd have to adjust mileage calculations because the speedometer/odometer would be way off. |

Why not get those Michelin (or any other brand) tires that are designed for fuel economy in mind? It'll be safer, and would look normal. lol
