Possibly getting a Yaris

Hey guys.

I've been driving my parents Yaris for the last year, since I passed my driving test. When my parents get a new car they are considering selling me the old one (the one I'm driving now).

I'm just considering what I can do to it aesthetically.

I'm thinking:
New Gear Knob
New Gear and Handbrake Gaiters.
Wrap the Sunvisors in black leater/leatherette (will do this myself)
Repaint centre console (where the gear stick and hand brake come out)
Possibly repaint parts of the Dash
Re-wrap the door cards.
Fit new head unit.
New mats (badly needed).

Also possibly change the handbrake lever, but i'm not sure, I keep reading that this was really difficult?

I'd suggest a new shift boot. Unless it's Auto, in which case I don't think you can get a boot for it.. I could be wrong. Redline Shiftboots is great. Their stuff is leather. Gear knob is easy, just twist and replace. The handbrake lever itself is tricky because you need to detach the cable that links it to the actual brakes, so you'll need to readjust it again afterwards.

The shift boot thats in there already is really tatty, so I was planning on replacing it, maybe even doing it before I owned the car. Gear knob is beyond easy, I've twisted it off before just to take a look.

Regarding the handbrake lever, is that particularly difficult or dangerous?

dangerous probably not, as long as your wheels are chocked. Difficult, maybe. I've never even considered doing it myself. Nor do I now of anybody who has attempted to. It's pretty standard for mechancis to adjust a handbrake's play so I'm sure there are DIYs somewhere.

Ah, I see. Well, thanks anyway. I'll keep looking.
