How much should I expect to pay for tint?

1. Do most people only get the side windows tinted, or also the rear? Does having the rear tinted help much?

2. How much should I expect all four (or five if you include the rear) windows to cost? I would likely do the darkest legal tint available.

I got my windows tinted 30% front and 20% rear. To me it helps when its sunny, better than not tinted windows. I paid $160 if i remember right, including taxes.

I paid $180+tax in NJ, 35% for all windows except windshield. Came out great! It is just dark enough to obscure the details of my face (privacy), yet allows for enough visibility that other drivers can see my hands if I try to signal that they can go first at stops signs etc. Would've gone with 30% if I was doing it again.

If you don't tint the rear, I think it will look rather funny...

There is significant difference in the heat on the parts of my seat/dash that get hit through the tint vs. through the windshield. It has cut down on my need for a/c on sunny days.

back window 20%
rear windows 20%
front windows 35%

I spent a bit less than $120 including taxes from a local car tinting company here in south bay

I paid 60.00(20% front,5% everywhere else inc. a big windshield strip) but my friend owns the shop...120.00ish sounds about right.

local place quoted me 185 for the yaris. My wrx was tinted when I got it (my first tinted car) and I love it, limo in the rear (doors and rear glass) and lighter in the front.

35% 3M color stable tint all around on mine - 200 $

35% 3M Generic tint - 160 $

Huge improvement in heat reduction (only reason I had it done)

Edit: Also plan on getting my windshield done with the 3M Crystalline soon

I had mine done for $140 total and live in DFW too. He did a great job and came to my house. It is Tintmasters Window Tinting. He has been tinting for 15 years and just started his own business. His number is 817-323-0290. You could go to Harry Hines and get it done for under $100 but that is the stuff that turns red and bubbles.

I just got it done in Whitby, Ontario at Protint. 30 in the sides and rear window 20 in the rear quarters. $249 lifetime warranty.

Pretty happy with it.

Mmrdelany, did it at least come out perfect? I had a cheaper quote than the $180 I paid, but wanted to go with the most reputable shop.

depends on what type of tint they are using + warranty
you get what you pay for pretty much.. expect cheap tints to turn red/purple with bubbles and flake off... more expensive tints such as 3M and Llumar brands are lifetime warranty and are very high quality with computer cutting and so on,etc.

i did a medium on the rear 2 windows and a light ones for the front driver and the passenger...although i am not sure the percentage are but thats what i wanted to get on my car...and i payed only 109.75 for all around including tax with life-time warranty as well...so like one of us mentioned earlier, shop around and ask for their warranty...and plus, if i am not wrong...for yaris shouldn't be expensive at all....if it is over $150 then u r getting robbed for sure i give u that
