Smile wheel lock thread

couldnt find one so thought i'd make one up

are they worthwhile? i've heard they can be easy to get passed...

is there a range in quality between brands (i.e. in effectiveness) or are they all kind of the same? who's most reputable?

what are you running?

Slightly oversized socket hammered onto the lug nut, that's how they are most often defeated.

Wheel locks take an extra 30 seconds to a minute for a thief. Not really worth it.

plus they are a PITA from a service perspective. any idea how many times people forget the key, or lose it? not worth it imo

sooo...no? not at all? i work in a pretty ghetto part of town so i figured this would at least keep the dumb bored kids off my ass

it's just funny cause when you hit up amazon for "wheel locks" there's a bunch of wheel lock removal kits that pop up too

Correct.

I have Rays lugs on my wheels without the locks. They used to be on one of my five lug cars until I lost the socket for the 7-sided lug. I hardly use lock lugs any more since I always lose the key, and it's super irritating when you need two different sockets every time you swap wheels.

most times some kid will steal your Rays lugs knowing they cost a crapload and leave you with nothing but the locking 7 sided one....lol

Wheel locks only are gonna stop those looking for an easy score.....a wheel theif will get around that pretty quick....also are the wheels spendy then it will help...
