What I meant was based off what you said, "if I close my eyes, sound stage seems something like 10 or 12 inches wider that my A-pillars".

That extends past the outer limits of your mirrors.

I'd love to see your front stage setup.

Mixing the sub in just right can be a trick. It works though in the Yaris sedan...even with the sub in the trunk. Crossover techniques is what does it for me.

Well.. could not agree more on that installer's experience does matter in car audio projects..

not sure about the mirrows but unexpectedly seems wider than my pillars

You said there will be an event in Coquitlam next spring - would be good to meet would you decide to come- will show you what I did

No it's not, that was a shot in the past, when I had the Mids in spheres!

Ok, I took the I6SW out of it's enclosure, then with some Morton Ice Melt I started checking internal volume, and I end up with a 9.3 liter enclosure, HAT recommends 9.9 litters that means I'm short for over 1/2 a liter (2 cups).

That puts me at 94% of the recommended internal volume, should I add a little hump! to compensate and accomplish 9.9 liters? maybe I should?

Yesterday I had the chance to have my first passenger to test the space, I just covered the enclosure with a black cloth, and didn't even say any thing to my guest:

1.- He didn't bother or noticed the enclosure, he was comfortable as far I could tell, he is about 5'-10".

2.- When I turn the music on, (very low volume, this was a business trip, not a show off) I could tell on his eyes rolling that some thing special was going on, I had some Jazz music, he kind of pause at some points to listen/feel the music.

After another 200 miles with the I6SW, I was thinking... "Do I miss my IDQ12?"

Not really!


IDQ12 was nice to show off, with loud bass in the trunk, but on long trips was kind of overwhelming, my seat used to vibrate and that kind of bother me.


I6SW is not Loud, but it does what I want, like & feel the bass in my chest. every day get's better and better.

Coolness! Now we need to move that stage back to the hood...

You know, it's funny, we're converging with our systems. I just realized last night that my L6SEs fit in my doors. They put out at least as much mid bass as they do in the kicks. This means I can move my mid ranges down to the kicks...AND...

wait for it, you're going to like this

put two sealed ID8s in the passenger's footwell. I've got so much power on the sub amp that I could run 12 of the little 8s.

I really would like to know a little bit more about tuning and how to manipulate the sound, I hear many people talk about their stage on the hood, I know we have a disadvantage with the Yaris, the base of the windshield is almost 5 feet from my right ear, compare to other vehicles the base of the windshield is very close to the listener, or maybe it's an advantage for the tweeters? having all that space in front of our hears.

Yes I'm hoping my L6s will perform well in the doors, I'm sure they will do better than what I have now. your L6SE wouldn't have a problem there. I would like to cut the plastic trim over the speaker though, but I'm afraid it's going to look cheap/bad?


What tools do I need to cut metal down in the a-frame?
I would like to sink the MIDs as much as I can in there to improve the width of the stage.

If the I6SW is doing pretty good I know you could make 2 ID8s sound awesome in the passenger's foot well, you have all the power or even more than that!

I was going to say wait on sinking the mid into the kick. Let me do mine first so you can work off my mistakes. That being said, we have different mids. My SEs have a neo motor. With that in mind, I can snug mine almost INTO the side of the kick. lemme show a pic of the area:



The SEs will fit into that area when I place the baffle for the speaker on top of the hole.

That means one can actually put the mid range IN the kick.

Oh...what do you think about me taking the glove box out (since I'll be in the Pro/Am class for IASCA next year) and bringing the 15" up front? MWAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Re : glove box out / 15 inch sub upfront

How do you plan to fit a sub that needs a huge (btw how big?) enclosure somewhere in the front?

Devilish little plan!

the enclosure only needs to be 12x15x15 overall. That's something like 1.56^3 of enclosure space. The enclosure i have in the back now gets LOW with its response, I'm working with a 1.75-2^3 enclosure at this moment.

I don't store anything in the glove box anyway, so it wouldn't be much of a loss.

Anything I do store can be put into the center console.

Derick likes that IDQ 12 up front? :) Imagine a 15" with 3 times the power at least. That would also allow me to bump my mid bass and mid range frequencies up since localiztion wouldn't be an issue. Less stress on everything.

just didn't resist and cut some sheet metal with rudimentary tools, tomorrow I'll try with a dremel. I didn't want to wake up the crew!

I believe your L4SEs are slightly bigger than my Hertz, I really want to sink in at least the Pilot's side.

Put a 1/2" baffle on that shit and glass it in! Glass it into the stock kick panel...
