Help with Steering Wheel mod.
Okay, so the stock steering wheel on my LB 2007 Yaris is too big and I kinda want something new.
Anyone know if this is compatible and reliable with my Yaris compared to spending $100-300 for a mom and a hub? http://www.ebay.com/itm/COMBO-RED-ST...ed00d6&vxp=mtr |

It says that it is...only thing you can really do is purchase and try. If it doesn't work or doesn't fit your taste then you can send it back or throw it up for sale yourself. There aren't too many folks that have done a different wheel.

I have an aftermarket wheel(Momo) with the NRG short hub and NRG quick release...
@ roughly 150.00 per piece you'll be in for a couple of bucks if you go that route, but the control you get from a small wheel(mines approx 13" dia.) is unbelievable. The hardest part of the install is rigging up the contact for the horn, which isn't very hard at all. I'd be weary of the ebay stuff, what are you going to do if that wheel suddenly comes off?? ![]()

Pretty sure a cheap wheel like that will fall apart pretty quickly (year or two). But hey, for that price, you can go through 6 of them for the same money, so why not?

I would want to, but shit lol I really am trying to get Tokico shocks first. I really need em, Ive been running on stock shocks with MI springs for about a year and my shocks squeek and are just worn out. After that I plan on getting spacers, HID, vitz spoiler, and maybe the wheel after all that..

it could be in your state, but every state is different. Some don't let you do anything, some let you have any steering wheel as long as it has an airbag, some let you use any steering wheel at all.

every cheap steering wheel I have ever seen over the years falls apart very fast or breaks, save a bit and get a good wheel like Momo or Sparco....there are even many other brands out there that make good quality wheels for under $200
The NRG or Bell hubs are great, and a quick release is not needed but is nice to have on the setup. Airbag may be illigal to remove in some states just check your state and local laws to be sure,I know in Washington I got harrassed last month over my steering wheel and if my insurance knew.....well yes I told them I had no airbag and was not gonna replace the thing....they are not concerned and I am sure they wold not cover injuries in my car no matter what at this point. To trick the computer it is also easy to use the resistors and the horn is a fairly easy thing to do.... remember buy cheap and end up buying again sooner than you may want. |
