Best tires for my Yaris

I'm needing new tires and not very good at deciding/picking out the right ones. I have a 2007 sedan. I live in FL so no snow but definitely hot climate. I would like lasting tread of course.

I bought my car new in 2006 and before I hit 20,000 miles I already needed new tires. Yes, I did regular maintenance, etc. Now I'm approaching 60,000 and need new ones again (lasted longer, thankfully). I have Kumho Solus on now.

I do not want factory tires as they didn't even last me that long. Can anyone make recommendations for me so I can start putting a payment plan in place? I just don't want to get ripped off. I have no problem paying a higher price for a better tire but I'm not mechanically savvy and feel they walk all over me LOL.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks! :)

I have stated in another thread, I only had less than 20000 miles on my orginal tires as well. I put some Continental Pro Contact on mine and with 10000 miles on them they still look relatively new. I live in Florida as well so no snow for me. I got these at Walmart for they had the best price. Don't like walmart, get the price there and goto Discount tire and they will match the price.

I like my Michelin Defenders. I have 20K miles on mine and they are hardly showing any signs of wear. I believe they are rated at 90K miles, so you shouldn't need to replace them anytime soon.

I got mine at Discount Tire......Michelin runs a $70 rebate program regularly, so I would wait until one is running before buying a set. That will essentially pay for the mounting & balancing, so you are only paying for the tires themselves (which are about $115 apiece). They're not the cheapest tires out there, but they do last a long time.

I bought Michelin Destiny and have 15000 miles on them so far. The treads are looking as good as they did when I first got them. I paid $101 for each tire and after everything is said and done, it cost me a little over $500. Also, if you get them from discount tire, you can bring in your Yaris to get a free tire rotation whenever you want. I rotate my tires every other oil change.

I bought some Yokohama AS430 when I was down in florida. They handle really well, and deal with the rain well as well. They are horrific at dealing with snow though, and they are relatively cheap, and after 40k miles mine still look brand new.

Yokohama has moved on to the AS530, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was just as good.

Hey you should really check out the Cooper ZPT tires. I had them mounted on my Yaris almost 2 years ago. I then swapped my wheels from my Yaris onto my Miata. I bought the miata in september of 2011. I put on over 15,000 miles before i had that wheels swapped into the miata. Now they have almost 30,000 miles on them. I use them all year round and it snows here in NY. They have great grip and dont wear out quickly. Here are some pics of them on the miata. Also thats the link to read up more about them. You wont go wrong with them.

I too like my Defenders. Cost me $499. total at Costco.

Michelin really knows how to make/design tires. I would not buy some off brand if there anywhere near $100., just makes no sense to me.

I replaced my first set of 4 Firestone FR710s with 85,009 miles on them and they still had some tread left. Before that I had a Wal-Mart set of 4 and before that the OEMs. The first set of FR710s went on my Yaris at 140,553 miles on the odometer. I got a second set of FR710s late last year and they have 15,000+ miles on them. My total cost out the door with the included lifetime balance, rotation, and road hazard for the second set of FR710s was $407.77 (locally, near my home) and for the first set of FR710s in 2009 the total cost out the door was $333.45 (on sale in PA after using sealant on a flat when heading to NYC, Boston, and Maine on a trip)
