Exclamation Excessive engine movement

Hey guys,

I have a serious problem.

Whenever I launched my car or dump the clutch, the engine bangs against the firewall.

I'm now afraid that I may break something. My friends told me changing the rear engine mount to a solid mount would solve the issue. Another option would be an engine damper however I can't find any for my car.

What do you guys think?

Your friends have the right idea. It sounds like the mount(s) are busted.
You can purchase a universal tq damper or one from another vehicle and fabricate custom brackets. U can use a piece of pvc piping or paper towel roll to determine where you want to mount the damper and what length damper to purchase. I believe there are 2 different length dampers available.

micro image sells the TRD transmission mount. Might be worth it if your hard on the drivetrain. An engine damper only slows the movement of the engine.

http://shop.microimageonline.com/TRD...RIS-trd-mm.htm

There should be a link to the lower trans mount at the bottom of that page.

Might be mistaken, but I think that I got the last dogbone TRD trans mount that Garm had. He still has the 2 engine mounts. rather than fabricating mounts why not look to get used ones if you don't wanna buy new? Have you checked ToyotaPartsZone.com for OEM?

P.S. Yup, I am still alive and kickin, haha

I filled my engine mounts with 3m urethane lol The engine moves but not a lot like when it have the oem mounts. Also there is a little vibration when the car is at idle. For 30 bucks I think is the best you can do. lol

Did you fill all the mounts or just the one at the back?

Sorry for the delay.
This is the urethane that I used.

To remove the transmission mount you need to remove the battery and the battery bracket. It's easy to remove. You need to put a jack stand to hold the engine and then remove the mount. To remove the back engine mount you don't need a jack stand.

Before

After

I don't have pictures of the back engine mount but it's much easier to remove that the transmission one. Also you need to let the urethane cure 24 hours.
