So does this ever get changed?
All these years changing my air filters and I never looked up inside here. Does this screen/filter or whatever it is called ever need changed? I can't find anything in the 08 shop manual showing this.

No it is permanent from factory. It's an emissions charcoal filter

The idea is that the air going through it is already cleaned by the engine air filter, so no replacement required.
