Wheel bolts too short for lug nut to grab AKA the Wheel Ordeal
Hello all. I bought set of Aftermarket 17" wheels for my 09 hatchback off of Kijiji. I took the car to a friend's house, jacked up put the tires on realized the stock bolts weren't gonna work. It was late so we called a night, put the steelies and the snow tires back on.
So next day, I head over to Canadian Tire and they tell me I need the Toyota Aluminum wheels lug nuts which they have for $60. So i bought them but since i had the wheel in the back, i did a quick fit test and realized they weren't gonna work either. So i run back in and the attendant tells me I need spline lug nuts. so i grabbed those. I get back to my friends we jack up the car up again and realized that yes the spline nuts do go in deeper, i can only grab about a turn and a half. So i go back to Canadian TIre and they tell me i need "tuner" lug nuts from macgard for $110 bucks. Well these did not work either same thing as the spline they go in but only grab about a turn and a half. Has anyone ran into this issue before? The holes on the wheels have a taper so any of these lug nuts I've tried can only go in so far.. ![]() Could this be the solution? http://www.brandsport.com/grla-21138etxl.html Many thanks in advance for your help =) Last edited by ebaut; 06-19-2016 at 02:01 PM. |

You just need tuner lugs, possibly the once with allenkey style or spline.
Plus what is the hub bore Yaris is 54.1 so Ull need hub rings. Sent from my ONE A2005 using Tapatalk |

Tried those black ones. Didn't work. They only grab about a turn and a half.

Did u get the right 12x1.5 pitch cos I really see no reason for the silver once not to work the black might be to wide.

Measure the diameter of the smallest part of the opening (to see if the 0.62" diameter tube of the Gorilla lug nuts will enter.
Also, measure the depth from the beginning of the taper to the back side of the lug nut opening. From the picture it looks like they are really thick wheels, which would mean longer studs would need to be installed on the car.

That would be the issue from ur pics u probably only can fit the silver once...not much space there.
