C150 and C50 series ring gear question
I am hoping someone can help here.......
I have a C150 in my Echo and am trying to put a LSD in it. I have a 67T ring gear with a 19T Output Shaft gear..........the 67T ring gear has 6 mount bolts to the differential. I need 8 for the LSD So, can I use the 67T ring gear from the C50 series transmission (which is a 8 bolt mount) with the C150 trans case and differential? Thanks for any help on this....... |

I'm pretty sure that's a yes, but I'd wait until Tom or Sam chime in as they will he able to confirm this with certainty

C50(Yaris)-18/67=3.7 110mm
C50(xD)-17/67=3.9 115mm C52(MR2)-16/69=4.3 110mm C56(Celica Gt)-16/69=4.3 115mm C59(corolla)-? C60(GTS)-17/77=4.5 115mm ALL OF THESE ARE 8 BOLT I don’t believe you can use a 67 tooth ring gear that was designed for use with the 17 or 18 tooth output shaft. The clearance will be off.

Thats the info I was after Tom.
I can measure the diameter of my gear and see if this will work. There has to be a way to do this as there was a TRD LSD for these cars that was an 8 bolt. Thanks! |

Don’t forget to measure the ring gear rear seating flange(where the bolt threads are)as well so we know what size you need.
I have a Yaris 67tooth ring gear if it turns out you can use it. If not I have matching sets of the C56 4.3 as well. Let me know if you’re interested

Do you mean the ID of the ring gear or the offset of the flange? Or the bolt circle? I have the new diff already so I can measure from that as well.
I will measure it all, thanks for the help Tom. I'll let you know if I need that Yaris gear. Going with the 4.3 final drive will make the RPM's too high for me.......It's still very much a street car that sees a lot of highway use. I actually think the RPM's are already a bit high and I have the lowest gear set......3.526 (67/19) |

I'm at a loss on this one. I haven't done any research on the 6-bolt diffs or their components.

Measure the ID of the ring gear flange. It should be either the 110 or 115mm

Hi Tom,
Ok, I finally got the spare trans apart......i need the c50 yaris gear. 67T 110mm ID. The OD looks like 188.5mm Can you take a quick measurement of the OD on the one you have? I'm good to go anytime, shipping to brampton Ontario. Let me know what you need for it. Thanks, Ron Last edited by Ronnie V; 03-17-2019 at 03:22 PM. |

I'm very curious to see if/how this fits into the C150 housing. I assumed that the diff housings are different lengths but have never actually measured them.

If that does become an issue Ron can just buy the bell housing bearing spacer for the Yaris and adjust preload like normal.
Different bell housings have unique spacers....but the shims are all the same |

I will keep everyone apprised of my findings. I will probably drop this off at a local reputable transmission shop. After taking my broken one apart I think this may be a little more than I want to bite off this close to the season.
