Bye, Bye VW...Hello Town and Country
Well, as much as I loved the ride quality of the VW wagon, it's just too small for all the hockey gear and doggie transport kennel. I say good bye to the V-dub on Tuesday. Hello, insanely loaded - yet slightly glitzy - 2013 Chrysler Town and Country Limited.
I'm selling the VW to my step mother for a steal of a deal. Actually, I'm getting the almost identical price for the sale as the van is costing. We're doing a dealership paper trade, so with the substantial tax savings, I should be out the door for a few hundred bucks. Apparently the sticker on this van was around $57000.00 CAD, so for ~$9300.00, not too bad. Once again, I will benefit from the fact that everyone (well everyone else) wants the latest and greatest, best-looking and they're willing to put themselves in debt for these 'features'. So, with few interested buyers, a great deal is to be had! I'm not proud, so I'll take the grampy-van. The van is near mint (like my VW). It does have 140000kms on it, but has a near perfect body, interior, paint and amazingly, the underbody has what appears to be a factory applied undercoating that's in superb shape. It could use brake rotors and pads. I'll do that myself. I can't imagine any other option that could be included in a vehicle. That said, the electronics are a tad dated, though every system works! A few of the nice features are fully automatic doors, gate, dual screens, multiple AV and audio inputs, cross traffic detection, blind spot monitor, power folding mirrors, NAV, 30 gig hard drive, parking assist, leather, 3 zone automatic HVAC (bonus as I like to be cold in the driver's seat, my better half, warm in the pass seat), Command start, first and second row heated seats, power driver and pass seats with power lumbar (great for my aging back), memory seating and mirrors heated steering wheel, power adjustable pedals, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlights (HID) super console, power moon roof, privacy glass with retractable window screens (bonus, no whining kids!), rain sensing wipers, beautiful (subjective, I know) 17" chrome alloy wheels. And more! I've done an insane amount of due diligence/research on the Pentastar engine, the 62TE trans as well as commissioned the local Chrysler dealer to do deep inspection of all parts/systems mechanical. I asked them to be super critical. Powertrain, suspension all in excellent shape. Plans upon delivery: Brake pads and rotors New steel wheels (Mopar at $75.00 a pop, surprisingly) and winter tires Trans pan drop, filter, ATF +4. I'm buying a Dorman pan with drain bolt ($22.00) for future drain and fills. Full rustproofing and undercoating WeatherTech or similar floor liners. Oil change, coolant change, PS fluid change Here are some pics. Glitzy van, I know.

Thanks! I hope it pans out in the long run. I agree. Minivans are great. We've had a few and love them.

They certainly are a feature rich value priced, when used, vehicle.
I hope you fare better than I in my last two Dodge/Chrysler vehicles. The BCM and PCM spelled for me their ultimate demise.

They are pretty optioned out. I had very few issues with my 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan and put close to 300000 kms in it. So did the PCM and BCM units in yours die? I see both are available on ebay, ranging from $75.00 to $100.00+. I know that there would be some shop time, too, to program them.

Good vans. One of the few Chrysler products that don't fall apart after 8 years.

Almost bought a convertible Solara the other day for $3000. The drivers door I mean the passenger door got dinged in an accident.
Thought better of it!

Yeah, I had a 4th Gen. 2006 van and it was very reliable. I put a lot of kilometers on that.

The Solaras are very nice. My dad had one. I can't remember which year, but the thing was an absolute rocket!

My grandfather has had a 3rd, 4th and currently has a 5th gen. All with the 3.3, all of them made it to about 350k before they were too rotted. He uses them as work vans for his small sub 10 employee cleaning company.

Chrysler is a good brand of cars. I like it personally. I had one Chrysler car about 7 years ago when I was living in a Munich house and it never broke or had any major issues. Of course I was taking it to garages to standard checkups but it's a good car in my opinion.

Congrats. I'm not a minivan fan, but no doubt that one is nice and loaded.

She's loaded man! Haha. And, what a ride. It's an absolute tank. Quite an experience to drive it and then the Yaris on the roads we have. The van is so smooth and cushy, the Yaris, solid and you feel every bump. LOL.
