I'd make the claim, you're paying the insurance to take care of items like this why not use it. I believe that most insurance companies won't fix an item if it's past a 60 day mark on the claim. They will want to know why you waited so long. Do you have a high deductable on the policy and have you had a lot of claims in the past is also another issue.

Better to take care of them now then wait to the last minute, besides it you wait another year or two the cost might be more to repair the issues. Just my 2 cents worth.
