just to clear it up water pump is covered under powertrain warranty
which is
5yr/80k mi or
60mo/100k km
if it fail while its still under warranty the dealer has to change it no matter how many times it fails unless they find something that would cause it to fail prematurely
which they would have to prove it
if you change it through the dealer after warranty parts and labor should be covered by at least 12mo/12k mi
the main problem why alot of newer car parts fail in due to the higher use of recycled material
