If you are talking about me ... I think you need to learn about tires. My tires are "Winter Rated Tires". They are hybrid "all weather tires" rated for snow and ice.
The benefit .. I can use them all year long.
However .. I have found they are awesome in snow .. on ice, not as good as I would like. They are $800 tires ... if I wanted crappy all season tires for my Yaris I can go to Walmart and pay $40 a piece.
Spoke to my sister yesterday who has "Winter tires" .. and she has been having the same sliding problems. There is no guarantee of anything when you are on ice, not even winter tires.
