At both of my trackdays I never saw the oil temp above 109 C. I run the oil level about a half qt. low (about halfway or a little lower on the dipstick) and never saw any abnormal oil press. fluctuations (i.e. pressure changes not consistant with rpm).

With a higher output engine (boosted) I could see the need for an oil cooler or a finned pan, but for an N/A application of the 1NZ I don't think it's really needed.

I think a pan rail spacer would be cool to run if we were able to drop the pickup the same amount, and then run about the same amount of oil (or maybe a half qt. more). It would reduce windage, and maybe allow the oil to "calm down" a bit more before getting sent back through the engine. With the way the sump of the engine is set up, I feel pretty confident that the 1NZ with stock oil capacity can handle any kind of lateral G you can throw at it (I had absolutely no problems at the Streets of Willow).

Cali....that water pump is the nuts! I'd be really interested in doing the same thing on mine.....and removing the A/C is getting more and more tempting every time you mention it! Great work, and I can't wait to see this thing on the street!
