I owned an NA (not naturally aspirated, talking about gen) with a stock suspension, but had a roll bar (not the aesthetic ones, but the ones that can pass for SCCA), and it handled beautifully. But make an error with the gas pedal when it's wet out, and be prepared to have your hands full.
