The Yaris is only new to the American market. Other markets have had it since 1999 (as pictured above). We have what is the 2nd generation Yaris which also goes by the name Vitz, Belta, or Vios depending on market. And actually, when the 2nd gen arrived in the US, it was already a year old in most other countries including Canada where they got it starting in 2006.
Alway's remember that America always gets everything last.
Even though we're the richest, most advanced, most powerful country. Go figure.
