Well, it won't actually DAMAGE the A/C evaporator, but it sure will plug it up enough so that air flow will become restricted. Then it might be a real chore to clean it out.

I just looked at my girlfriends filter last week and it had leaves, lint, bugs, and hair in it. Needless to say, it needed replacement ...
