Don't get your underwear all in a bunch!

I drive a Focus SVT and the hard limit on revs is the oil pump disintegrating at 8000 RPMs, my redline (after an after market tune) is 7600 RPMs. I've bounced off the rev-limiter and there isn't much to worry about. Okay maybe you'll only get 999,750 miles out of your engine instead if the 1,000,000 you were hoping for.

Toyota (despite all the recalls and anti-Toyota rhetoric) builds damn fine engines, I'll bet there's some builders who have no trouble revving their engines to 9,000 for extended periods of time.

Enjoy your car, it will last longer than you'll want it (unlike my SVT)
