1-piece wheels are typically lighter than a 3-piece - there are no fasteners and no replicated flanges. Look at SSR or Rays (or the ever popular RPF1). It is not the number of pieces that determine the weight, it is the quality and type of construction.

The 1-piece Forgelines on my RX-8 are nearly 1lb lighter than the same wheel in a 3-piece.
