Hey, everybody has to start somewhere! I use StackOverflow all the time as well.
The App inventor may look like a toy, but it's quite useful in many cases. For instance, I built a proof-of-concept app for a client in less than two days. You should definitely try it out, if only to see how easy it is to get stuff like GPS tracking working in a few minutes.
