Thanks to all for your replies . I've had a Craftsman 12v air compressor for many years....as well as a hand held pressure gauge to better check the pressure. However, in some situations, it is irritating to have a window rolled down while putting the 12v to use. If Scott would worry about the battery holding a charge, that is enough for me to nix the idea. I'll stick with the slight irritation re the window.
